Happy Easter to all of you! I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating our Risen Savior. We can live. Isn't that wonderful?
I grew up with the understanding that Easter isn't about bunnies and candy and eggs and new dresses...but was truly about how thankful we should be as Believers because we have the ability to celebrate and enjoy eternal life. I have a better understanding of it now...the messages my parents instilled in my mind will forever be the foundation that makes me who I am today. I have, as I've grown up, derived my own interpretation of what I believe is true and right and am very comfortable in what I (and Brian) will deliver to Braiden as he grows up. I can't say that I'm 100%, tried and true, Free Will Baptist, as I was raised...and will not lead Braiden to be. (but my own struggles and beliefs are for a whole other post!).
Don't get me wrong...I had Easter baskets and dyed eggs and got new dresses to twirl around in (although there wasn't much twirling at 6:30 am for Sunrise Services when I was small...!!) And, Braiden has new clothes for that special day and an Easter bucket and (will) dye and hunt eggs as long as he's willing to do cute things for his momma! But the commercialization of Easter (as with Christmas) is just something we're going to deal with in our own way ~ as parents, as Americans and as Believers.
These aren't the pictures from yesterday - I haven't loaded them yet - but they are of Braiden's First Easter (last year). I love these pictures...he was still such a baby and was just starting to smile at us when we would take his picture! Throw back pictures are always fun!!!
Smiling for Mommy!

I'm with you on the commercial thing. Gage asked when the Easter bunny was coming and I said he wasn't. I am horrible, some people might think, but I told him that we got him candy for eggs and that Grandma and Grandpa sent him some things for Easter. He knows that we celebrate Easter because Jesus lives and not bunnies and that is what I love!
Hi Dena! It's nice to "meet" you :) I'm glad you've had reading my blog and I'm so glad you said hi, I totally love comments :) And I don't mind you linking me at all, I think I'll do the same with you if that's alright :)
Dena,
I love reading your blog! It is always fun to see what is going on in the Chancellor's world. I can't get over how much Braiden has grown in the past year...his Easter pics from last year were so sweet! Thanks again for all the nice things you say on Katelin's site! I hope y'all are doing well! Would y'all be up for meeting for lunch one weekend? I'll e-mail you.
That Braiden is so cute! I feel the same way about the commercialization of the holidays that mean something more than they are portrayed.
Girl...you CRACK me up! I love my birthday song...what a great way to start my day...Thank you!!!
Man, isn't amazing how FAST our little ones grow....and sad too! can't wait to see this year's Easter pics!
You are right the holiday is not what it should be. Too much marketing to twist it all up. Okay those were my words. I got on my soap box on the subject on my blog if you haven't read it. Your little man is precious in his first Easter pics. So sweet. Can't wait to see the ones from this year. Thanks for all the comments on my blog!
