The two of us went with a friend of mine (Molly) and her niece, Taryn. Taryn is 4 and is SUCH a doll. But, we kinda did what Taryn wanted to do. When Taryn wanted to do it. And she still managed to whine about how hot it was, and what she didn't get to see, and "Why can't I pick up this fish and take him home with me? It's Nemo and he wants to go home with me. Why can't I just pick him up? Will you pick him up for me?"
We got there when the gates opened at 9:00 am and wandered around until 12:15 pm. He was so hot and tired when we finally got back to the car, that he was fast asleep before I made it out of the parking lot.
His favorite thing of all were the little monkeys. The ones that hop around and have really long tails.
Braiden's mommy wasn't very impressed with the visit. Most of the exhibits were closed. There was lots of construction going on. The concessions weren't open. Yadda, yadda. But, the last time I was at the Little Rock Zoo was 14 years ago, so I'm not real sure what I was expecting. Enjoy the pictures...some are really cute!

Look at my sweet little baby...giving me the bird! Good grief.
He was really wanting to grab one of those fish!

After a nap, he sits in the living room floor, with his milk and crunchies...right beside our newly purchased monkey from the Zoo Gift Shop. He loved those monkeys!

LOL! Love the way you felt about the zoo visit. It sounds like a hot day - and humid! Love the pictures of Braiden though - he is such a cutie. I can't remember the last time I went to the LR zoo, I know we rode the train - I think I went there with Starla?! Our zoo here is little, but it's nice we can do it all in a short time. Random - but if you are ever near Omaha, NE, go to their zoo - it is the BEST I have ever seen. I've been there a few times and still haven't seen every exibit.
Walking around outside when it's that hot is no fun, but it looks like you guys still managed to have some! Braiden looks adorable and that's so cute you got him a little monkey since he loved them so much.
Love the pic of Braiden and the finger...funny how it looks so on purpose for you taking the picture while he was hot! hahah j/k Anyway, we went year before last with Jackson's kindergarten class and it was CRAZY! None of the concessions were open then either and you would think they would be open now for sure. We waited 45 to ride the train and J had to stay with his class. It was crazy. I get to do it all again this year with Lauren! haha But, anyway, I really want to go to the Memphis Zoo sometime in the next year or so. It is WAY better. Maybe we can make that trip together with our kiddos!
OH HEATHER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE that idea!!!!!!!!! Maybe you could get Chris to go, too, and he & Brian could hang out (old times. good stuff.)!!
I know Brian will want to go. He wants to do everything with me & Braiden. He hated that he missed Braiden's first trip to the zoo. Hated it, I tell you. I felt bad for even going!
My friend Tara (her blog is on here) takes her boys to the Memphis Zoo, and Brian & I have talked about meeting up with her & her husband over there sometime, too!! I love road trips!
We should totally try to do that! :o) :o) I'll be thinking about it all day long now! HA!!
Okay you guys (Heather and Dena)have me all excited now a road trip...too much fun. We go to the Birmingham Zoo mostly since it is closer, etc. But it is still fun. I like the Memphis Zoo better, too! Dena, the pictures are cute looks like you guys hung in there and had some hot hot hot fun!! By the way Dena you are looking AWESOME!!
Awww! Tara! You are the sweetest!!!!!!! Thank you so much for the compliment! You know...you're the only one that's said anything other than myself when I'm looking in the mirror! HA! I'm like, "WOW...you are looking smokin' hot little momma!" I'm kidding! I would never say that! Thanks again for being so thoughtful!!!!!!
Girl you should say it cause you are looking smokin' hot...you rock...How is your lifestyle change going? I can't believe no one has said anything....
Yeah, I noticed and told Clay after I looked at these pictures that you look So skinny in these pictures! I just forgot to comment! I have been wondering how it is going lately. You need to get Brian to take some pics of you and you post before and after shots. And, then you need to come down here and kick my butt into gear!!
I hate our zoo too. It is the worst when it is hot! It is much better if you go when it is cooler, more animals will be out. Clay took the kids one day while I was busy in the spring, and he said almost every animal was out...that figures!!
I LOVE LOVE the Memphis zoo!
Maury, you are so sweet!!! Thank you so much!! It's 22.5 lbs now. Can't believe it myself. This health thing was my kick in the butt...I certainly don't wish that on you! But, it would be nice to have someone that will do (some of) this with me - go walking, eating, no cokes, etc. Brian doesn't want to...and I totally get why!! Trust me!! I'd love to go back to normal! But, being faced with it, and forced to pay attention to what's in what I eat has really made me realize how poorly I used to eat! ex. Just holding the cheese on a sandwich saves 4+ grams of fat per slice! WOW! That adds up. Thanks for the comment!!!
